THE owner of a popular takeaway who is opening a sit-down diner said rising energy bills have delayed the opening date.
Yasin Ahmed, owner of Beef and Bird, has been working hard in the renovation of what was previously known as Swirly Joe's on Silver Street.
Despite the delays, Mr Ahmed is still hoping to have a summer opening and said: "We should be ready in a month."
The restaurant owner made the decision to open a sit-down restaurant after his takeaway on Midland Road was struggling to compete with giant delivery apps.
Mr Ahmed says the new restaurant will follow a subtle jungle theme and will do much more than just 'flipping burgers.'
The diner intends to serve up pancakes, burgers and milkshakes.

Mr Ahmed previously said: "The building is about 200 years old and even comes with an original fireplace.
"We want to keep old features of the building whilst enhancing it with 21st-century trends."
