THE Salvation Army's new donation centre in Worcester has announced its official opening date.

The donation centre, on City Walls Road, will be opening to the public next week on Tuesday, May 24.

Staff and volunteers are currently putting the finishing touches to the centre and are busy encouraging people to donate.

The site was formerly The Bedroom Centre and also a Jaguar garage but has remained empty for a long time whilst a new owner was being looked for.

The centre has been asking for donations such as furniture, bric-a-brac, electrical, clothing, jewellery and linens to fill up the storefront ready for the opening.

The headquarters for the Salvation Army Church in Worcester is in The Trinity.

The charity has also shared that they are looking for volunteers looking to gain retail work experience aged 14 or over to help raise money for The Salvation Army in the store.

The charity is still encouraging people to donate, and also has free collection facilities as well for larger items.

For more information about donating furniture, clothes, electrical items, books, etc. you can call The Salvation Army on 01905 384253.
