A POPULAR Worcester restaurant has revealed its reopening date after a six-month closure.

Foodies across Worcester will be delighted at the news that Bodega Cantina, on Foregate Street, will be reopening on Friday, May 27, after having to close due to a staff shortage crisis.

The restaurant is part of independent midland based restaurant group serving a wide variety of South American food and drinks classics.

During the closure, the venue has undergone some refurbishment works and has managed to recruit a new workforce.

Matt Scriven, the owner of Bodega Cantina said: “It was very sad to have to take the decision to close Bodega Cantina in Worcester temporarily at the end of November 2021 but I took the decision that it was better to do that than embarrass ourselves trying to cover for staff absences.

"I didn’t expect it to take so long to re-open the venue but the hospitality industry is currently experiencing unprecedented shortages of staff and we were let down on numerous occasions whilst trying to re-open the restaurant by people who had accepted positions with us to then subsequently change their minds without telling us.

"We’re confident however that we now have the team that Worcester and the venue deserve, and we hope to recapture the hearts of Worcester residents once again."

The restaurant has been operating in Worcester city centre for over six years.
