MP Nigel Huddleston speaks out after Robin Olsen's assault

Droitwich and Evesham MP Nigel Huddleston tweeted that he “expected action” after Aston Villa keeper Robin Olsen was assaulted during a pitch invasion after the final whistle at Etihad Stadium.

The Mid-Worcestershire MP wrote: “The recent rise in football disorder by some so-called fans - including pitch invasions and attacks on players - greatly concerns me.

"I shall be raising the issue again with football authorities and I expect action.”

Villa's players were still on the pitch as thousands of fans invaded after Manchester City’s title win was confirmed on Sunday.

Olsen, making his debut in the match, appeared to clutch his face as fans surrounded him as he tried to walk off the pitch.

It is the fifth incident in a week of pitch invasions.

On Thursday, a fan was jailed after running on to the pitch and headbutting Sheffield United captain Billy Sharp on Tuesday.

And Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira was involved in an altercation with an Everton supporter during a pitch invasion following his side's Premier League defeat at Goodison Park on Thursday.
