Cricket star Azhar Ali has tried out one of Worcester’s newest takeaways.
The Pakistan international, who is playing for Worcestershire this season, enjoyed a meal at Mother Hubbard’s fish and chip shop at Shrub Hill Retail Park.
The chippy, which opened last weekend, excitedly shared pictures of the former Pakistan captain on social media.
“Guess who popped in to see Mother Hubbard today? International cricket star Azhar Ali, who is currently playing for our Worcestershire County Cricket Club,” they said.
“We think he’s definitely a fan of our delicious fish and chips!”
Azhar has been in fine form for Worcestershire in the County Championship recently, scoring a brilliant double hundred against Leicestershire last week to help his side to their second win of the season.
The opening batter was signed by Worcestershire as a replacement for Australian star Matthew Wade, who had agreed to join the Pears but instead went to play in the Indian Premier League for Gujarat Titans.

Azhar, who has also had three spells playing county cricket with Somerset, has played 94 Test matches for Pakistan, scoring more than 7,000 at an average of 43.07.
His 19 Test centuries include an unbeaten 302 against West Indies in Dubai in 2016.
There were queue of up to an hour last weekend as Mother Hubbard’s opened its doors for the first time in Worcester.
Hundreds of people waited in line for the chance to get a fish and chip supper for 45p - the price of the meal when the first Mother Hubbard’s opened in Bradford in 1972.
Franchise owner, Zahid Lone, said: “I am really happy with the crowd we have and thankful for everybody that has come down to join us today.

He added: “Some people are concerned that we are not a local franchise but the team working here really is.
“We are not here to compete, we offer something different and that is we just serve haddock.
“People who have tried it are saying they won’t go for cod again as it has so much more flavour.”
