RESIDENTS of a Worcester street have spoken of their shock after four men were arrested for attempted murder after a late-night stabbing. 

A Worcester News reporter went to Park Street, off Wyld's Lane, this afternoon and spoke to the residents and nearby independent business owners after a man was taken to hospital after being stabbed in the stomach.

A Park Street resident said he heard the police arrive at the scene shortly after 11pm on Wednesday. 

He said: "I heard a noise last night, I heard shouting but I didn't look outside the window." 

Several people said they heard shouting and screaming but did not know what had happened 

A business owner in Wyld's Lane said: "It's so near, what has happened. Worcester is becoming quite different now, it used to be a nice area, but now it feels like there are lots of incidents like this."

Other business owners said the police had asked them if they knew anything about the incident that took place in Park Street on Wednesday (May 25.) 

A business owner on Wyld's Lane said: "The police came in and asked us today but we close at 7.30pm so we don't know what happened."

The victim, 34, has been taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, with serious internal injuries after being stabbed in the stomach. 

Police have said his injuries are not considered to be life-threatening.

Following a police search two men, aged 20 and 21, and two 17-year-olds were arrested and taken into custody.

West Mercia Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information about the stabbing to come forward..

Inspector Fergus Green said: "This was a violent incident which has left a man with serious injuries and we are determined to find out what happened and bring those responsible to justice."

"If you saw anything or have any information we urge you to come forward. Any information you give would be treated in the strictest confidence."
