An animal rescue shelter near Worcester is planning to host its first Vegan Fayre - if there’s enough demand.

The RSPCA Worcester and Mid-Worcestershire Branch, which is based at The Holdings in Kempsey, has set a date of Sunday, August 14.

But the charity says the event is still in the early planning stages and is trying to gauge how many people are likely to attend.

A spokesperson said: “This is only in the very tentative planning stages and though we have already had some interest from stallholders who would be selling vegan cakes, vegan sushi and vegan scotch eggs amongst other things, we really need to be able to give them feedback on likely numbers attending the event.”

Anyone interested in attending is asked to visit the branch’s Facebook page and respond to the Vegan Fayre event.

Business owners who would like to have a stall at the event are also invited to get in touch with the RSPCA branch.

Vegan market comes to Worcester in June

One vegan market has already confirmed it will be returning to Worcester this summer after a successful first visit to the city last September.

The event, on Saturday, June 18,  promises vegan street food vendors, artisan bakers, craft brewers, ethical jewellers, small-batch soapers, artists, charities and zero-waste champions.

From 11am to 6pm it will take over the High Street and Cathedral Square, with stalls and food trucks offering a huge range of cuisines.

Back in September, stall holders came from near and far to display their vegan-friendly goods.

Worcester Vegan Market will also come to the city centre on Saturday October 22.

The event is organised by Vegan Market Co, which runs similar markets across the country in conjunction with councils and business improvement districts.

It will soon be launching a vegan marketplace online, where independent producers will be able to collaborate on unique, sustainable and ethical items.

We reported earlier this month how a popular vegan restaurant in Worcester had reached the final of The Food Awards England 2022.

Be The Change has two venues in the city - a restaurant in Friar Street and a cafe in Cornmarket.
