A MAN hiding from police after a stabbing in the city was discovered 'well hidden from view' by a police dog.

Police dog Foyle has been commended for his actions with officers saying it may have been a different story if the animal had not tracked him down.

West Mercia Police said the German Shepherd assisted in tracking the offenders before locating the hidden man.

Two men aged 20 and 21, and two 17-year-olds, were arrested just after 11pm on Wednesday (May 25) and were still in police custody on Thursday afternoon.

A 34-year-old man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham with serious injuries after being stabbed in the stomach in Park Street, off Wyld’s Lane.

Police have said his injuries are not considered to be life-threatening.

Police dog located suspect hidden from view

A spokesperson for the force’s police dog section said: “PD Foyle proved his worth during this incident, assisting with tracking the offenders, and then locating a suspect who was well hidden from view.

“Without his tenacious nose, it would have been a different tale,” it said, adding there had been great teamwork with both the South Worcestershire local policing team and Worcestershire’s operations patrol unit.

Worcester News:

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information about the stabbing to come forward.

Inspector Fergus Green said: “This was a violent incident which has left a man with serious injuries and we are determined to find out what happened and bring those responsible to justice.
