An air ambulance landed in Warndon as an elderly woman was in a critical condition.

Residents of Barley Crescent saw the air ambulance go over their houses and saw it land nearby.

They suspected that it landed at Warndon Community Centre as they believed it to be the nearest open space.

A spokesperson from West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 9.03 to reports of an incident at an address on Marsh Avenue in Worcester.

"Two ambulances and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford attended.

"Upon arrival we found an elderly woman in a critical condition.

"She received advanced life support from ambulance staff at the scene.

"She was conveyed to Worcester Royal Hospital for further treatment.”

A Barley Crescent resident said: "I saw the air ambulance land and then two paramedics came and walked down this street past me.

"But then, they stopped because they were radioed.

"They turned around and went back.

"There were no ambulance vans that came, I don't know what they were looking for."

Other residents on the street said that they had seen the ambulance land and then take off again but did not know why it had stopped at Warndon.

They said that the air ambulance was on the ground for around 45 minutes before it took off again.
