A school has celebrated the Queen’s Platinum Jublee with a pageant and a teddy bears’ picnic.
Children and staff at Fort Royal Community Primary School, off Wyld’s Lane, wore crowns and dressed in red, white, blue and green - representing the four nations of the UK.
Margaret Jones, fundraising manager at the school, said: “The school and grounds looked amazing and were decorated with bunting, pictures of Her Majesty and collages that the children had been working hard to make during the week.”
A specially-written story, Teddy tells the Queen, was written and performed by Ian Craigan of Puppet Tree Community Arts, was the basis for the day’s entertainment with children taking part by acting, singing and playing percussion instruments.
“A scrumptious picnic generously funded by The Friends of Fort Royal was a real treat, eaten outside in the sunshine,” said Mrs Jones.
“We then held our pageant, welcomed our very own Queen for the day Emily and her entourage, who led us together with Ian into our story and songs.
“Each child then took home a bespoke teddy as a reminder of the day. Everyone really embraced the day and we all had a brilliant time with lots of fun and laughter.”
