Seven men have been released on bail following a ‘large disorder’ at a travellers’ caravan park near Evesham.

The arrests came after police were called to reports of a disorder on Saturday night, and again on Sunday morning, at Castle View Eckington Travellers’ Site on Tewksbury Road, Eckington.

Two men, aged 21 and 30, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Four others, aged 18, 20, 22 and 46,  were arrested on suspicion of actual bodily harm and a seventh, aged 63, was arrested on suspicion of common assault.

West Mercia Police have now confirmed that all have been released.

A spokesperson said: “Seven men, aged 18 to 63, have been released on bail following a disorder at Castle View traveller site, Eckington.

“Enquiries are currently ongoing and there will be an increased police presence near the site.”

Speaking on Sunday, inspector Billy Keys said: “We would like to reassure the public that we believe these to have been isolated incidents.

“However, people may see an increased police presence near to the caravan park as we continue with our investigations.”
