RESIDENTS of Blenheim Road all joined together to sing Sweet Caroline and more as Jubilee festivities continue in Worcester.

The road, located in the heart of St John's, is closed off today from 9am until 5pm for its street party.

Everyone in attendance joined in to sing the Neil Diamond classic, followed by Madness' rendition of It Must Be Love.

The street party was planned by Joanne Curtis, Lisa Bendall, Vicky Garside, Marc Ward, Jilly Baker and Helen Hunt, who all live on Blenheim Road.

Mrs Curtis said: "When it was lockdown we used to head out on the street at the foot of our gardens and it felt very important for the community to be together in such a difficult time.

"We said that if ever there was an opportunity we would have a street party like this, and there is no better occasion than the Jubilee.

"We live in a lovely area of Worcester with a truly lovely community. We also have a royal road name so it would have been a shame to not hold a street party.

"The decorations are the result of a group of very hardworking people getting together, laying out the table, getting picnic items, arranging hopscotch and games for the children and more.

"Everyone has contributed and everyone seems to be having a lovely time. We are all very pleased with how  this event has gone today."

Val Stinton, of Blenheim Road, said: "It is amazing, last time we all had to stay in our own gardens so it really is amazing to be able to do this together.

"We are all out together again, the mood is great and the way that Joanne and the other organisers have worked to put this all together is incredible."
