LOUD drum and bass music thudding out in the early hours kept people awake and has been called "disrespectful".

The loud, thudding bass line broke the peace in a quiet part of the city in the early hours of the morning.

People in Northwick and Crown East both reported being able to hear booming drum and bass between 1.30am and 3am on Sunday (June 19).

But mystery surrounds what was causing the racket which disturbed people's sleep.

Some believe it may have been coming from Hallow while others blamed boats on the river for the din.

Councillor Karen Lawrance said it was very "disrespectful" for residents trying to sleep.

The city councillor for Claines ward said she did not hear the music herself.

She said:" I have seen people discussing the noises online and I think it is one of those situations that can be very difficult to deal with.

"It is certainly out of order and very disrespectful to those trying to sleep.

"If the source was located then it could be followed up but it can be very hard to trace these complaints.

"It is important to be considerate and just be mindful of this sort of noise, especially in residential areas."
