SAFETY concerns for a person sitting on the edge a bridge saw a main road in the city centre closed off last night.
Police were called to Worcester Bridge and closed it off for the wellbeing of the woman and to "maintain the safety of all concerned".
Eyewitnesses reported seeing a girl sat on the bridge and a large number of police and fire engines at the scene from 8.15pm.
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "We were called to the river bridge in Worcester where there was concern for the safety of a woman who was sitting on the bridge.
"The road was closed at about 8.20pm to allow emergency services to talk to the woman and maintain the safety of all concerned.
"The situation was successfully resolved at 8.40pm and the woman is now receiving appropriate treatment and care.
"We would like to thank members of the public for their patience during the time this incident was ongoing."
