THE Yorkshire Shepherdess will be appearing at a popular countryside festival near Worcestershire next month.

Amanda Owen is set to make a guest appearance at The Game Fair at Ragley Hall in Warwickshire this July as part of a celebrity foodie line-up.

She is said to be creating bespoke menus, giving cookery demonstrations and meeting attendees at the event.

There will also be appearances from chef James Martin and JLS singer JB Gill.

The event is the largest countryside festival in Britain and will attract as many as 120,000 visitors.

Amanda Owen said: “This will be my first time at The Game Fair.

"The event is so relevant on so many levels. I jumped at the chance to appear on stage and meet visitors as I think these mass gatherings offer an opportunity to have discussions concerning various topical issues – namely the current food crisis.

"People are starting to wake up to food provenance and there is a backlash against factory farming.

"If you are going to eat meat, then educate yourself. I want to help break down social barriers and misconceptions. So, if me appearing on stage can help educate a few visitors then I am all for it.”

She will be appearing each day in the Game Fair Theatre, on stage in front of visitors in a live chat show style, talking about her life as a remote hill farmer, family recipes and her thoughts on modern food production.

James Gower, managing director of The Game Fair, said: “We are over the moon to share the news that Amanda will be joining us at The Game Fair this Summer.

"Amanda’s work as The Yorkshire Shepherdess has shared the realities, both good and challenging, of rural life with a wider audience and we can’t wait to welcome her to our celebration of the British countryside.

"I’m particularly looking forward to sampling her Sunday lunch and breakfast recipes and I’m sure our visitors will feel the same way.”

The event will be held on Friday, July 29 to Sunday, July 31.
