POLICE were given an usual task this weekend, herding loose sheep out on a Malvern road.

Malvern police have been tweeting about the incident, which happened in Guarlford on Saturday morning.

The police tweeted: "Malvern officers were herding loose sheep off a blind bend in Guarlford at 7am this morning.

"The sheep were returned safety to their field."

The police even joked they had to take on the role herding the escaped sheep, as mascot Peeler the Police dog was already engaged on another job.

"Peeler the Police dog was out today at a dog talent show in Barnards Green," the Malvern Cops account tweeted.

"Too late to assist with the sheep herding."
