We have compiled a list of five museums to visit in Worcestershire for a day out this weekend.

With the weather forecast predicting a chance of rain for Worcester this weekend, this list of museums will certainly make for a fun-filled day out.

Worcester City Art Gallery and Museum

Worcester City Art Gallery and Museum is based on Foregate Street in the city centre.

The facility showcases an array of objects related to Worcester and its history, as well as special exhibitions, events and activities throughout the year.

The site is open on Saturday from 10.30am to 4.30pm, which are the same times at which the museum operates throughout the week, and is closed on Sundays.

This Saturday features Hokusai's Great Wave: Reflections of Japan, The Power of Portraiture, the What a Picture Family Trail and the Jump into Japan Family Trail.

 

The Commandery

At The Commandery, in Sidbury, you can learn about Worcester’s involvement in the Civil War, in an interactive experience, and experience life as a soldier.

The Commandery is most famous for being the Royalist Headquarters during the deciding battle of the English Civil War – the Battle of Worcester 1651.

The site is also accredited by the Visit England Visitor Attraction Quality Scheme.

There is also a café on site serving coffee, tea and cake.

Hartlebury Castle

At Hartlebury Castle, visitors can explore rooms in the Castle previously roamed by royalty and visit The County Museum to learn about social history, toys through time, archaeology, and the county's past.  

The castle has also been accredited with the Visit England Visitor Attraction Quality Scheme.

There is a shop, café, picnic area and nature reserve all on-site as well.

The castle is open from 11:00am to 5pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

Museum of Royal Worcester

The Museum of Royal Worcester is a ceramics museum in the Royal Worcester Porcelain Factory's former site.

The museum hosts regular exhibitions, talks and demonstrations, alongside paint your own pottery activities and family-friendly trails and workshops.

The museum is open on Saturday from 10am to 5pm, and on Sunday from 10am to 4pm.

Tudor House Museum

The Tudor House Museum on Friar Street is an independent museum which teaches all about Tudor life.

The museum is free to visit for all ages, with donations accepted to help fund the site.

The museum is open every Saturday from 10am to 4pm.
