A MAN is in a serious but stable condition after a police incident in Warndon Villages.

The man suffered a medical episode and was transferred to Worcestershire Royal Hospital by ambulance, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Police were called to Great Oaty Gardens in Warndon Villages following reports of a disturbance in the early hours of this morning (Sunday).

Two officers sustained injuries as they attempted to make an arrest.

It was during the incident that the man suffered a medical episode and it has now been referred to an independent watchdog.

A cordon was in place at the scene but was removed at just before 2pm.

West Mercia Police has referred the incident to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), who will now carry out an independent investigation.

A spokesperson said this is standard practice for incidents of this nature.

"Due to the ongoing IOPC investigation it would not be appropriate for us to comment further at this stage, however, we will do so when we can."
