A TEENAGER was hurt and left trapped in a car after a crash which closed a busy road in Droitwich.

The youth had to be freed from the vehicle by firefighters following a crash between a car and a van.

Firefighters, police and ambulance were called to Ombersley Way yesterday afternoon (Tuesday) at around 2pm. 

A spokesperson from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Services said: "Two Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews from Droitwich Fire Station were called at 14:12 on 5 July to an RTC on Ombersley Way, Droitwich.

"The incident involved one car and one van. A male casualty in his late teens was medically trapped and extricated using hydraulic tools before being handed over to the care of the ambulance service who attended, along with the police.

"The vehicles were made safe by fire service personnel."

A spokesperson from West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called to reports of a two-car RTC on Ombersley Way at 2.01pm yesterday, one ambulance and a paramedic officer attended the scene.

"On arrival we discovered two patients.

"A man, who was the passenger in one of the cars, was treated for injuries not believed to be serious before being taken to Worcester Royal Hospital as a precaution.

"The second patient was assessed and discharged at the scene."
