A TROPICAL paradise - not words you tend to used to describe Worcester city centre but the latest bar set to open its doors is filled with greenery.
We took a peek inside The Botanist on the High Street just before its highly anticipated opening date.
The Botanist has branches across the UK and will be opening a branch in Cathedral Square on Monday (July 11).
The venue features hand-painted murals from locals, tropical plants and exposed brickwork.
Customers can expect a laid-back atmosphere inside the instagrammable bar and customers can sit inside or on the balcony.
General manager Nathan Callis said: "Worcester needed something like this.
"It's a chilled-out vibe, you can bring your friends and family and enjoy live music and cocktails.
"The location is perfect."
Mr Callis said he wants to work with other local businesses over the next couple of months and collaborate with people in Worcester.
"We want to be very community-led and work with partnerships.
"It's nothing to do with rivalry."
Initially, the team say they were hoping to open in February but plans were delayed due to Covid.
Mr Callis said: "I'm glad we're opening around summer, everything is right and everything is in the right place and we have an incredible team."
The new bar is hoping to employ around 60 people and Mr Callis said he is pleased to have such a diverse team on board ahead of the opening.
Mr Callis said one of their chefs is a 63-year-old woman who had been rejected from multiple jobs.
He said: "A lady was rejected from 20 jobs before we hired her.
"We also have 16-year-olds who have their first jobs with us and they're so nervous and excited."
Mr Callis, who has been working in hospitality for 22 years, said: "When you hire young people, when they go out into the real world, you sometimes feel like a parent sending off your child."
Ahead of its opening, Mr Callis revealed that they have received over 30 resumes.
He said: "We don't just promise the dream and don't deliver, we are the dream.
"Everything we offered at interview we have delivered and the staff are happy with the training they have received."
