A POPULAR Worcestershire music festival being held this weekend will result in several road closures.

Seven roads will be closed to accommodate the Upton Blues Festival warns Worcestershire Couty Council.

Church Street, High Street, Old Street, Court Street, Dunns Lane and New Street in Upton-upon-Severn are all going to be closed to vehicles.

Emergency Access will be maintained at all times.

The closures will be in effect from Friday, July 15 from 6pm until midnight.

On Saturday, the closures will be from noon until midnight and Sunday will be from 11am until midnight.

Waterside has closed today, with emergency access being maintained at all times, in preparation for the festival.

The festival is returning after a two-year break due to the pandemic.

Live music will be performed throughout the event and camping for the festival has been extended until Tuesday following the end of the event to give people more time to party.

Acts will perform at venues around the town including the acoustic stage at St Peter and St Paul's Church in Old Street, the big top stage at the Rugby Club and the main Riverside stage at the waterfront.

Headliners include The Folly Brothers, Kara Grainger, Mumbo Jumbo and Northsyde.

This year campers can take advantage of a campsite bar, run in partnership with Hobson's Brewery with plenty of food and drink on offer throughout.

Upton Blues Festival is celebrating its 20th year with a flypast including iconic Spitfire, Lancaster and Hurricane aircraft.

The Spitfire and Hurricane will be flying on Friday at 4.29pm and on Saturday the Lancaster bomber will take off at 4.09pm.

On Sunday the Hurricane and Spitfire will be flying again at 2.58pm. 

Upton Blues Festival is Britain's biggest free blues festival and won Festival of the Year in the British Blues Awards in 2015 and 2016.

It also won best blues-based festival in the UK Blues Awards 2018.
