It’s been a hot week in Worcestershire and for the next few days it’s going to get even hotter.
The Met Office has upgraded its weather warning from amber to red for Monday and Tuesday, with parts of the county including Worcester in the hottest part of England.
A red warning means we can expect an “exceptional hot spell” in the early part of next week and that there will be population-wide adverse health effects.

The Met Office says the outlook for Sunday is largely dry with sunny intervals, “becoming very hot by day with oppresively warm nights as well”.

“We hoped we wouldn’t get to this situation but for the first time ever we are forecasting greater than 40°C in the UK, said climate attribution scientist at the Met Office, Dr Nikos Christidis.
“In a recent study we found that the likelihood of extremely hot days in the UK has been increasing and will continue to do so during the course of the century, with the most extreme temperatures expected to be observed in the southeast of England."
