THESE are the Worcestershire schools which are expected to be closed today due to the extreme heat.

Here is a list of schools closed today across the county as people struggle through the second day of a red 'extreme heat' warning issued by the Met Office. Worcestershire yesterday came very close to record temperatures.

The Met Office recording for the Hereford and Worcester was 36.8C at Astwood Bank.

 

 

 

The following schools will be closed throughout the day (based on a list provided by Worcestershire County Council):

  • St Barnabas CE First & Middle, Drakes Broughton

These are the partial closures 

  • Bredon Hancock's Endowed CE First School Evesham. School will be open from 8.40am but will unfortunately be closed from 12.30pm due to the extreme heat in the classrooms during the afternoon.
  • Broadwas CE Primary School Martley. School will be open from 8.45am but will close at 1pm due to predicted high temperatures.
  • ContinU Plus Academy Kidderminster. School will open from 6.30am until noon due to extreme heat in the afternoon. Pupils will still have a full school day.
  • Defford-cum-Besford CE First School Pershore. School will close at noon due to red weather warning of extreme heat.
  • Dines Green Community Academy Worcester. Severe weather - extreme heat. School will be open for the morning until 12pm.
  • Great Malvern Primary School, Malvern. School will close at noon due to extreme weather. Reception classes closed all day and no afternoon nursery session.
  • Hanley Castle High School, Upton. Only school-based activities are cancelled for Tuesday. Activities resume on Wednesday
  • Holywell Primary & Nursery School, Rubery. They are asking children who can be collected to do so from 12.15pm due to excessive heat in classrooms in the afternoon.
  • Leigh & Bransford Primary School, Malvern. School will be closed after lunch. 
  • Lickhill Primary School, Stourport. Other severe weather - temperatures in excess of 38 degrees predicted Millfields First School, Bromsgrove. Closing at noon due to weather alert for heat
  • Northleigh CofE Primary School Malvern. Due to the forecast extreme heat and resulting risk to health, school will be open as normal in the morning but will close to all pupils from noon.
  • Offmore Primary School, Kidderminster. Due to the exceptional heat forecast tomorrow and the fact the school has said it will not be able to mitigate this, the school will be closing at noon.
  • Somers Park School, Malvern. Extreme heat and potential risk to health, school will be open as normal in the morning but will close to all pupils from 12pm. Applies to both sites.
  • St John's CE Primary School, Kidderminster. Extreme hot weather. School will close at 1.30pm
  • St Luke's CE First School Redditch. School will close at lunchtime.
  • Sytchampton Endowed Primary School Droitwich. Due to the exceptional heat forecast and the fact that the schol has not been able to mitigate this, they will be closing at 12.15pm to all pupils and staff.
  • The Chantry School, Martley will be open as usual Tuesday morning but will close at 1.20pm due to excessive heat in classrooms later in the day.
  • Wyre Forest School, Kidderminster will be closing to pupils at 12.30pm on due to extreme temperatures and red weather warning.

 

Business closures: 

  • The Cross Keys in Ombersley will be shut for three days from Sunday, July 17 to Tuesday, July 19.
  • Bon Sucree will be closed on Wednesday (July 20)  and Thursday (July 21). The bakery will reopen on Friday and Saturday and from noon on Sunday. 
  • Olive Branch will be closed on Tuesday due to the hot weather but will reopen as normal on Wednesday
  • Anchor Pub and Kitchen. The kitchen will be closed on Tuesday. However, the bar will be open from noon.
