A NEW pub coming to Worcester city centre has started renovation work at its new location.

The former Worcester Steak n Grill House was purchased by Midlands-based brewery company, Davenports earlier this year.

The site is set to go through a variety of renovations before the new pub will be able to open.

It was confirmed to the Worcester News that the work is now underway with the roof already subject to repairs as it needed a lot of work.

Davenports has also recently finished another pub in Birmingham, The Queen's Head, and have more refurbishments planned at another location in the near future.

The venue shared in June that 25 jobs will be created at the new location.

As of yet, Davenports haven not disclosed what the pub will be called.

The location has posters on doors promoting the takeover and a message saying "see you soon".

The venue previously opened as Francesca's in November 2019 and before that was called the Maltster, Bar 12 and the Slug and Lettuce.

It was listed for sale on March 2 2021.

The business also owns and operates hotels, nightclubs and event venues around the West Midlands region.

The Brewery was established in Birmingham in 1829, with Davenports' branded beer sold through online retailers and across pubs in the West Midlands.

Some of Davenports' pubs include The Elms in Shareshill, The Port House in Stourport, The Queen's Head in Birmingham and The Coach House in Stratford.

The new pub is one of many new businesses coming to the city centre.

A new Korean restaurant, called Grounded Kitchen, is coming to Foregate Street and a new Bubble tea cafe, called Mooboo, is coming to the High Street.

Worcester will also see a new mini golf venue, Mr Mulligan's, in the near future as well.

The location has yet to confirm an opening date.
