A WOMAN will celebrate her 100th birthday at a nursing home in Wychbold - with her 103-year-old brother and 97-year-old sister.

Older brother Harry and younger sister Jessie will meet up with Dorothy Jennings at Rashwood Nursing Home to celebrate her centenary tomorrow.

Hazel Sparks, the home's activity co-ordinator, said: "She said the key to life is to be content with all you have and make the most of what you have got."

Mrs Jennings trained as a teacher in her youth before marrying in 1927.

She also worked as a volunteer for ambulance crews during the Second World War helping to transfer wounded soldiers from France to hospital in Warwick.

Her husband Donald died in 1942 when their daughter Wendy was just 18 months old, leaving Mrs Jennings to bring her up alone.

She took in a lodger who she still hears from today.

Mrs Jennings later became a clerical assistant of the clerk at Aston University in Birmingham before she retired in 1972.

Mrs Jennings has three grandchildren as well as two great-grandchildren.
