AN 80-year-old golf fan who has just finished cancer treatment is unable to play his favourite game after thieves stole an expensive buggy from outside his home.

Collis Fisher, of Pershore, was looking forward to playing 18 holes at Ravenmeadow Golf Club after cancer treatment but was devastated to find his green golf buggy was stolen.

Thieves had taken the £4,000 buggy from his home on Three Springs Road, between 2am and 6am on Friday (July 22).

Mr Fisher said: "I'm not happy about it at all. It was chained in my front garden and sadly had the chain broken to steal it.

"As it's a motor vehicle it was not able to be covered by the insurance either which is a shame.

"I have been playing golf since 1986 and I am probably the oldest member of the golf club.

"I have been in touch with the police and hopefully by sharing this it may help the situation out a bit more."

Mr Fisher is a member of Ravenmeadow Golf Club and always uses the buggy to get around the course.

Angela Leaver, bar and food manager at Ravenmeadow Golf Club, said that Collis is "the sweetest gent you could ever imagine" and the theft will undoubtedly "break his heart".

She said: "Collis is one of our members here at the club and he is just the sweetest gent you could ever imagine.

"He loves playing golf and I know this will just break his heart.

"One of our members who often plays with Collis shared it online and I have since shared it myself as I have quite a large reach on social media through the club.

"We are just trying to get the word out to see if anyone out there can help us relocate the buggy."

The theft has been shared by Mrs Leaver and other members of the club on social media to try and reunite the buggy with Collis.

Mrs Leaver said: "This has meant that Collis cannot continue doing what he loves, and the buggy is such a big investment for him.

"He has also recently recovered from a cancer treatment which just makes it all the more difficult to take

"It is heartbreaking for everyone here at the club as well and we are just hoping it can be resolved."

Ravenmeadow Golf Centre is home to an 18-hole golf course, 9-hole pitch & putt course, a 12-bay driving range, an Adventure Golf Course, FootGolf, a function room and a bar.
