A NEW Korean restaurant has opened in Worcester city centre.

Grounded Kitchen has opened its doors to hungry customers today (Friday) on Foregate Street.

The restaurant serves Korean nourish bowls, organic Japanese teas and smoothie bowls.

The 960-square-foot store will seat 20 diners and has created up to 20 new jobs in the city.

Grounded Kitchen has eat-in or takeaway options, as well as a delivery service through Deliveroo. The Worcester location is also the company’s eighth store opening across the UK.

Ralph Llanwarne, Grounded Kitchen’s franchise director, comments: “We’re very excited about opening our first store in Worcester.

"We pride ourselves on delivering meals so tasty that people forget that our basic focus is on a healthy balance, and we are delighted that the local community will now be able to experience our Korean Nourish Bowls at Grounded Kitchen for themselves.”

Some of the menu items include bulgogi bowls, which is a Korean marinade made from soy, sesame and garlic, Korean baos and ssambaps (which consist of sushi rice, romaine lettuce, spring onions, beetroot, chilli and coriander served in a durum wheat flatbread).

The restaurant already has locations in Birmingham, Oxford, Leicester and Nottingham.

The site used to be occupied by the Coral betting shop, which closed a couple of years ago and has sat empty ever since.

The store opening hours are Monday to Sunday, from 10 am to 10pm.

The restaurant is the latest to open in the city with The Botanist opening its doors to customers for food, drinks and cocktails this month too.

The Botanist opened in Cathedral Square at the sight of the former QPanda Oriental Buffet.

Also opened in Worcester this month is the german Doner Kebab restaurant, also found in The Foregate.

The fast-food restaurant joins nearly 150 stores nationwide and was selling kebabs for £1 on its opening day.

German Doner Kebab opened in an empty listed building which was last occupied by Red Leaf World Buffet which closed in February 2020.

It has also been a Deep Pan Pizza restaurant and Grill and Flames World Buffet.
