A DRIVER has been hit with a hefty fine after being caught speeding on the motorway.

James Woodard, of Infirmary Walk, Worcester, was caught speeding on the M6 near Stoke on January 15 this year.

The 36-year-old was caught speeding between Keele and Shraleybrook and was fined by magistrates at Cannock Magistrates Court on July 28.

Woodard was fined via the single justice procedure, which allows the court to prosecute minor offences without requiring the defendant's presence.

Magistrates fined Woodard £269 as well as ordering him to pay a £34 victim surcharge and court costs of £90.

He was also handed three penalty points.
