AROUND two hectares of land in Worcester has been destroyed by a fire.
Firefighters battled for hours to put out a fire in a field in Whittington Road yesterday (Sunday, August 7).
Two fire crews from the city, one from Malvern, one from Evesham and a water carrier from Evesham were in attendance.

“The fire was surrounded and efforts were made to damp it down using four hosereel jets and beaters,” said a spokesperson for Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service.
“The water carrier was used for water shuttles with around two hectares destroyed by fire.
“There were no casualties but a camp fire was discovered at the scene and police were informed. A reinspection took place at 8pm and the incident was closed at 11.17pm.”
