POLICE are stepping up their patrols after a vandalism spree saw a children's park damaged along with homes and cars.

The park at Powick Playing Fields was out of action last weekend after vandals sprayed offensive words and graffiti on it.

In response, West Mercia Police launched an appeal to find out who did it, later saying they have stepped up their patrols in the area.

The Kempsey and Alfrick Safer Neighbourhood Team carried out a late-night patrol in the village, with district councillor Tom Wells saying there would be an increased police presence throughout this week.

He said: "Following last weekend's dreadful spate of vandalism in Powick village, a multi-agency meeting took place on Wednesday.

"This included the Police, Platform Housing and Malvern Hills District Council.

"There will be a strong police presence in the village during the weeks ahead.

"If you have any information about last week's vandalism, please contact the police."

Teenagers were accused of the vandalism - with police saying they were looking for suspects aged between 15 and 17 - after obscenities were sprayed in the park and windows of homes and cars were smashed.

Windows were smashed on vehicles and homes between 7pm and midnight on Sunday, July 31.

Obscene words were also graffitied in the park at Powick Playing Fields.

The graffiti caused the park to be closed for the weekend while the mess was cleared up, though it has since reopened.

Police believe the suspects are two youths aged from 15 to 17 with dark hair and wearing dark clothing.

Anyone who knows the suspects, has any information or has footage from CCTV or doorbell cameras which may help, is asked to please get in touch with the police at www.westmercia.police.uk/tua/tell-us-about/, quoting 00576_I_22072022 .
