A DOG-LOVER from Worcester is hoping to break a world record in the most bizarre way.

Rachel Marie, 23, is inviting more than 120 dogs and their owners to watch 101 Dalmations to break the world record of the most dogs at an outdoor cinema screening.

Brazil currently holds the world record after gathering 120 dogs to watch Pets 2 in 2019, but Miss Marie is hoping to surpass that on Sunday, September 11 at Perdiswell Leisure Centre on Bilford Road in Worcester.

Miss Marie said: "I am very OTT (over the top) in general, so I wanted to see what I could do and push myself towards it. Once I have an idea in my head, I will achieve it."

The 23-year-old said she wants to raise about £800-£1,000 for charity but has not revealed which one yet.

The owner of Coco & Yogi's said: "All the animal charities in Worcester will be put in a hat and on the day we'll pick one because I couldn't choose.

"I would love about 200 dogs, but I would be so happy if 150 dogs showed up.

"I'm nervous, but I'm excited. I do think it's quite different for Worcester.

"After the pandemic, it's a nice way for people to get together and bring their dogs.

"Now, people are working all day and then often have plans that don't involve their dogs, so it's a nice way for people to come together."

The business owner said friends and clients have been very supportive of her idea.

She said: "I have had the support of my friends and clients, but I'm proud to have organised the event by myself."

Miss Marie reveals that she has always had an itch for adventure and has previously jumped out of a plane to raise money for charity.

"When I was 18, I jumped out of a plane for charity, I'll always have something I want to achieve and do."
