FIVE people were hurt following a multiple vehicle crash on a busy Worcestershire road.

Two vans and two cars were involved in a crash on Malvern Road, in Powick, at 12.20pm in front of the Skoda dealership.

There were a total of five casualties, with four described as 'walking wounded' and one woman requiring further medical attention at Worcestershire Royal Hospital. 

Police, ambulance and fire crews were all in attendance at the scene.

A spokesperson from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said: Two Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews – one each from Malvern and Worcester Fire Stations – were called to a road traffic collision on Malvern Road, Powick at 12.39 on 16 August.

"The incident involved two vans and two cars and, while no one was trapped, there were five casualties, four being walking wounded and one-handed to the care of the ambulance service.

"Police attended for traffic management. Two vehicles were recovered from the carriageway and one lane of the A449 was blocked.

"The incident was marked as pending closure at 13.54."

The ambulance in attendance was parked on Malvern Road, with police officers diverting traffic around the emergency service vehicle.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 12.20pm to reports of a multi-vehicle RTC on Malvern Road, Powick, Worcester.

"One ambulance attended and arrived to find all occupants out of their vehicles.

"One woman from one car was assessed and found with injuries which required further treatment. She was conveyed to Worcestershire Royal Hospital."

Bus services were also affected by the crash, with First Bus announcing delays of up to 15 minutes around the time of the crash.

Traffic began to move more freely from approximately 1.57pm, when the fire crew departed the scene. 

We spoke to police officers at the scene who declined to comment.

We are still awaiting a response from West Mercia Police.
