AN 11-year-old wonderkid from Malvern has achieved an A* in maths at A level.

John Bass, a student at Great Malvern Primary, received his results today after taking the A-level maths exam at Worcester Sixth Form College.

John and his parents, Dr Julian Bass and Katherine Bass, are currently in Slovenia, where John received his results via email.

He took time to pose with his brilliant results in front of the Julian Alps, a mountain range of the Southern Limestone Alps stretching from northeastern Italy to Slovenia.

Mrs Bass said that John has a great love of computer coding.

She said: "Obviously we are incredibly delighted and very proud of our son.

"John is obviously very able and he worked very hard to get this result. Maths has been really useful for John's passion for computer coding."

John's father, Dr Julian Bass, formerly worked as a maths teacher and became very aware of John's emerging talents for the subject when he was younger.

Dr Bass said: "As a former maths teacher myself, we started noticing John was really gifted with the subject from a young age.

"Growing up, John attended schools in the United Arab Emirates and Slovakia, and always enjoyed the subject."

We've approached Great Malvern primary and Worcester Sixth Form College for comment.
