A-LEVEL students from The King's School in Worcester have achieved a 100 per cent pass rate despite COVID-19 causing havoc to their education. 

The King's School in Worcester revealed that 53 students achieved three or more grades at A* or A. 

Overall, 26% of grades were A* and 54% of students achieved A*-A while 94% of pupils achieved grades between A*-C. 

A total of 87 students achieved grades ABB or better and 18 students achieved three or more A*'s.

This is the first set of students to complete their A-level exams since 2019 when the COVID-19 pandemic started. 

Gareth Doodes, headteacher, said he is grateful for the students and teachers who managed to achieve a fantastic set of exam results despite the pandemic.

Mr Doodes said: “The fortitude and resilience of our students, who before this summer had never sat public exams, have been outstanding.

"These stellar results are a testament to the hard work and commitment of this year's group.

"Our hybrid offering throughout the pandemic enabled pupils and teachers to work from home whilst isolating, ensuring continuity of learning.

"I will be forever grateful for the work of our teachers who, despite the challenges of COVID, have continued to deliver an exceptional standard of education.”

Several students from Kings had set their sights on higher education and four students have secured a place at Cambridge university.

Charlotte Morgan, head of school, received straight A*'s in her results and has secured a place to study medicine at Cambridge in September. 

In the same cohort, Josh Richardson, head of school, will be going up to Bath in a few months to study Mechanical with Automotive Engineering at Bath.

And Luke Beever, senior scholar, is also going to Cambridge to study Engineering.

Students have been accepting offers to study medical or veterinary-related degrees and engineering throughout the day and one student has even got a full scholarship to the University of Iowa in America.
