A BOY suffered minor injuries after four cars crashed on the M5.

Paramedics said they helped the boy - who was a passenger in one of the cars - after the crash between junctions 5 and 6 at Hindlip.

A spokesperson from West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 11.24am to reports of a road traffic collision involving four cars on the M5 between junctions 5 and 6 in Hindip, Worcester.

"One ambulance attended the scene.

"Upon arrival, we found a boy who was a passenger in one of the cars.

"He was assessed by ambulance staff and had sustained minor injuries.

"He received self-care advice and was discharged at the scene. No further patients required assessment.”

The crash has caused 'severe' delays with traffic left queuing on the M5 Southbound between J5 A38 (Droitwich/Wychbold) and J6 A4538 Pershore Lane (Worcester).

According to the AA traffic map, there are delays of around 30 to 35 minutes.

Three lanes were closed as a result of the crash until around 11.10am.

The AA map also states there are delays further down on the southbound carriageway.

Between J4A M42 andJ7 A44 (Worcester/Evesham) there are delays of around 27 minutes and growing.

The average speed in this area is 15mph.
