IT has been a rather unforgettable past week for all involved with Worcester Warriors and for now, it looks unlikely that things are going to get better anytime soon.

After it was made public knowledge that the HMRC had issued Warriors with the winding up petition on Tuesday, the rumours surrounding what is to happen next have gotten louder with each passing day.

Worcester say their directors are in “continuing dialogue” with HM Revenue and Customs after being issued with the winding-up petition.

The issue in question is an outstanding tax amount owed by the Gallagher Premiership club to HMRC.

It's an anxious wait for staff, players and the fans with an announcement expected to be made tomorrow (Monday).

The current situation is this: Staff and players were involved in a meeting on Friday where the situation was explained and players of the club have been asked to continue to train as normal.

But those players now face an uncertain future as without money, salaries are not able to be paid and they have ten days before the club's payroll is due.

Though there has been no official announcement of this kind about Warriors, if Warriors were to fall into Administration it could mean points docked and also end in Worcester being kicked out of the Gallagher Premiership.

It now means that new owners of the club are needed to save the situation. But time is running out.

The current owners, Colin Goldring and Jason Whittingham recently formed three new companies, which saw the club separated from the surrounding land.

Current director of rugby Steve Diamond is the front runner, or heavily assumed so, to lead a consortium of individuals in buying the club.

But with ten days until payroll, it is a race against time for new owners to come in and save the club.
