PUB LANDLORDS shared an emotional goodbye as it closes its doors while the brewery searches for new owners.

Landlords Fran and Deb Snell said they have "made lots of friends and memories" at The Red Lion, in Powick.

However, they announced they would not be reopening the pub, apologising for ending their time at

The pub was supposed to re-open today (Wednesday, August 24), but issues meant the current landlords, Deborah and Francesca Snell, could not open.

A social media post said: "As you’re all aware, we closed on Sunday and were supposed to re-open today.

"Unfortunately with recent issues, we have made the decision not to re-open The Red Lion for the rest of our time here.

"The pub is now advertised, so hopefully the brewery can find someone else to run your local very soon.

"We do apologise that our time here has ended this way, but hopefully we can stay in touch.

"We’ve had many ups and downs over the last 8 years but made lots of friends and memories along the way.

"Take care all. Lots of love. Deb and Fran."

Earlier this year, in July, the landlords shared that they would be leaving after "falling out of love with the pub".

The same post originally stated that the landlords would remain at the pub for another nine months unless anyone came forward beforehand.

The pub is now being advertised through the Stonegate Group, where you can register your interest in becoming the new landlord.

In 2019, the pub staff and customers helped rough sleepers by delivering goods to the homeless community.

They appealed for donations which they distributed to people in need.

At the time, Miss Snell said: “For the last few years we have been wanting to do something to help the homeless.

“We heard about the heart-breaking news of a homeless man in Birmingham who was found frozen to death earlier this year. This is what inspired us to help.”

“It has been rewarding.

“It’s nearly Christmas and it’s so cold outside, so we wanted to do something to help during the festive season.”
