An artic lorry caused chaos by blocking off a city centre road.

The large Aldi lorry drove the wrong way on The Cross attempting to drive down St Nicholas Street.

St Nicholas Street is one way and it was travelling in the wrong direction.

The lorry blocked the city centre near McDonald's for over 20 minutes at about 1am.

It had come from the direction of Foregate Street which is also a one way street.

An eyewitness said: "Artic went wrong way into Worcester city centre and blocked the road off for over 20 minutes.

"Not a clue he came from the train station direction the wrong way I believe in the bus lane and then tried turning left as you can see.

"The police tried to get him to back down the side road of McDonald’s and to go back the way you game but it was too dangerous and after he did something they gave up and then shut off the road in front of him and allowed him to go the wrong way towards ASDA."

At one point, the lorry hit something and a bang followed by a scrapping sound could be heard.
