A WORCESTERSHIRE megastar is going to appear as a judge on a brand new BBC Three game show called Project Icon.

Becky Hill, Jason Derulo and Derulo’s long-term manager Frank Harris are officially on the hunt for the UK's brand new pop star.

BBC Radio 1's Jordan North is set to host the show that will be available online in the next few weeks.

The new six-part music competition is set to put the contestants through real-life challenges in order to get an insight into the cutthroat world of music.

Hill, Derulo and Harris will mentor the newcomers and put them through a number of real-life challenges and each round will reflect the realities pop stars face in the modern music business.

One contestant will be eliminated every week in the run-up to the final where the winner will receive a US music deal with Derulo's label Future History.

The new popstar will also be given the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to collaborate with Derulo and also perform at BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend in 2023.

Becky Hill, who was a semi-finalist on The Voice, told the BBC: “As somebody with first-hand experience of a TV talent show, I know the struggles and stigma that surround trying to make it in the music industry.

"I want to change that narrative for other artists and show them that success in the music industry is about talent, but also and mostly about hard work.

"I feel like Project Icon is a boot camp for artists, showing them the fun parts of this life, but also the real work that goes into becoming a true icon.

"This is the training I wish I had all of those years ago.”

Earlier this year, Becky Hill entered the Love Island villa to surprise the contestants for a special club night.

Islanders certainly seemed excited to see her, with Paige Thorne, whose partner Jacques quit the show during Tuesday’s episode to protect his mental health, saying: “Becky Hill is going to be here tonight in Love Island baby.”

Ekin-Su Culculoglu says: “I’m a huge fan of Becky Hill. A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
