PEOPLE have been complaining about the "appalling service" at the city centre's Post Office.

People have been sharing their frustrations with the Post Office, located on the second floor of WHSmith, on High Street.

One customer said he was "appalled" by the service he received on a recent visit to the branch.

Richard Bird said:"I visited the main Post Office in WHSmith today and I was appalled at the way service has deteriorated to almost non-existent."

The Post Office in Worcester City Centre is one of ten throughout the city.

A spokesperson for WHSmith apologised and said there had been some staff shortages but roles have now been filled.

He made the comments on the We Grew Up in Worcester Facebook page.

Another customer agreed with Mr Bird saying that some customers get served "with an awful attitude."

Susan Cartwright said:"Agree with everything you have said, it is appalling service."

One person claimed the Post Office has been "an abomination for years".

Doug Wharton claimed:"It has been an abomination for years."

Another commenter queried why the facility even "bothered to open".

Colin Day said:"The main Post Office is rubbish, not at all helpful don't know why they bother to open."

Despite the negative comments, there were some speaking about their positive experiences at the branch.

Ruby Mcgrow said "I’m back in Worcester for a holiday as now live in Sydney.

"I went to that post office and the lady there was very helpful, the luck of the draw who serves you I suppose."

A WHSmith spokesperson:“At WHSmith, we are committed to delivering high standards of customer service across all our stores and Post Offices, so we were disappointed to hear this feedback and apologise to these customers for the way in which they have been let down during their recent visits.

"Unfortunately, our Worcester Post Office has experienced some temporary staffing shortages recently, however, a new Post Office Operations Manager has recently been recruited to support the staffing and improve the cover in the branch.

"Our Cluster Manager is also continuing to provide additional support for the branch.”

The Post Office opened at what is now The Postal Order in 1868 before moving to Foregate Street in 1953 - now home to a Tesco Express.

It closed and moved to the city centre in the 2000s.
