A MAN waited five hours in Whitehall to take these moving pictures of the Queen's coffin procession as it made its way to Westminster Hall.

Mark Evans said it was a memory that will stay with him for the rest of his life after making the pilgrimage from Malvern to London.

He captured the moment the Queen's heavily guarded coffin made its way through Whitehall just yards from Downing Street.

Mr Evans also pictured the senior royals including King Charles III as they travelled from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall.

"I already had options in my mind of the best viewing areas, so I took the underground from Paddington to Charing Cross, made my way to The Mall and also Horseguards Parade.

"Even at 9am these areas were already busy so I made a quick decision to make my way to Whitehall.

"I finally found a spot just yards away from Downing Street.

"Strangely the couple next to me were from Hereford and had also travelled down by train, a lovely couple and we spent the five long hours talking about life and their life in the armed services.

"Then at 2.40pm you could hear the distant sound of the marching band.

"The crowd were very respectful throughout as the procession slowly passed by, the Royal family following the Queen and then it was all over.

"A moment in time and history that I can be pleased to say I had the opportunity of witnessing in person."
