SOUND equipment stolen from a Rod Stewart tribute artist at the beginning of the month has been returned to him by police.

Entertainer Stan Terry, from Malvern, has performed throughout the world impersonating the singer, but his equipment, which cost him £5,000, was taken from a garage in Thirlstane Road.

Mr Terry, whose real name is Stanley Mott, didn't think he would see it again, now has the majority of it back.

He said: "It is just fantastic. The police have worked wonders.

"They received information on someone and followed that up, which lead them to finding my equipment.

"I got everything back apart from a box of spanners. I can't praise the police enough.

"I didn't think I would ever see my stuff again, I just can't believe it," he added.

Mr Terry is well known in the Midlands - and beyond - for his performances imitating the Los-Angeles-based superstar.

Members of the real Rod's family even attended Stan's recent surprise 50th birthday party in Malvern.

The equipment was taken from his garage between Wednesday, April 2, and Saturday, April 5.

It included two JBL Eon 15 powered speakers with subwoofer, valued at £2,450; two Martin Audio S12 subwoofers - £2,000; spanners valued at £50 and two extendable speaker stands - £30.

A man has been arrested and bailed in connection with the on-going police enquiry.

Mr Terry has two gigs in London this weekend and is happy he is now able to use his gear again, some of which he had only just bought before they were taken.

"It does make a real different when I have the right equipment. It is going to be well locked away from now on," he added.

Anyone who believes they have information about the theft is urged to contact PCs Nicola Nevin or Karl Lacey on 08457 444 888, quoting 307S/050408.

Information can also be given, anonymously, to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
