MOTORISTS have been warned of a technical error with council car park payment machines across the city.

While a technical error with the card payment facilities on city council car parks is being resolved, they ask drivers to pay with cash or via the RingGo app.

A computer software issue has resulted in delays to processing card payments, meaning a longer delay between customers’ paying for their parking and the money leaving their account. In some cases this has resulted in several separate payments leaving customers’ accounts all at once.

The issue may have affected anyone who has used a credit or debit card to pay for car parking from the 29th of August 2022 to date and the council is working with its service provider to ensure the issue is resolved as swiftly as possible.

A spokesperson for Worcester City Council said: “We are aware of a delay in processing card payments made at our parking machines since August 29 and we are working with the service providers to try to discover the full extent of the issue.

"We’d like to apologise for any inconvenience caused by this technical error which we are working to resolve.”
