A TEAM from a Worcestershire charity will climb one of the UK's highest mountains alongside media personality Amanda Holden.

The group, representing the Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust, will become 'Mandy's Mountaineers' as they join Amanda for the Three Peaks Challenge for Global's Make Some Noise appeal.

And the Trust's founder Jen Kelly says she will be packing a picture of her daughter Grace, who died aged four from an aggressive form of cancer, to take with her to the summit of Snowdon.

The walk comes as the Trust, which helps children and their families affected by cancer, was chosen as a beneficiary charity for the appeal.

Jen, the CEO and founder of the Trust and Emma Williams, charity operations and fundraising manager at the Trust, will join the Britain's Got Talent judge to climb Snowdon.

Also joining them will be  Samantha Lloyd, partner at SME Solicitors, who will take on all three peaks - climbing 10,476 feet in 24 hours.

Dr Kelly, from Crowle, near Worcester, said: "The Trust is honoured to have been chosen by Global’s Make Some Noise and are truly grateful for the support. As a small charity, with just five members of part-time staff, we really are making a difference to so many families facing childhood cancer across the region.

"For all those who know me, they will be aware that with only a few weeks' notice to train, this really is a big challenge for me to get up Snowdon.

"The trek is not going to be easy, but I will be making it to the top with a photo of my beautiful girl with me.

"The Trust has supported Samantha and her family since her 14-year-old son Edward was diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma back in November 2020.

"Edward’s treatment has recently finished but his recovery and ongoing monitoring will continue. As a thank you to the Trust, the family have set up a special fundraising page to raise funds to support other families facing childhood cancer.

"The Trust would like to say a huge thank you to the Global's team for this amazing opportunity of not only raising the vital funds needed for us to continue providing our services but also for being able to raise awareness of our work and our fight against childhood cancer."

The challenge will take place on Friday, October 7.
