A FATHER-of-three told magistrates "I need to get away from this stupid place" as he made a return to court.

Sam Peters was back at Worcester Magistrates Court on Thursday, (September 29), admitting a charge of criminal damage to property, and breaching a criminal discharge previously imposed.

Magistrates heard from Remus Mihailescu, prosecuting, who said the 31-year-old destroyed the rear window of a red BMW 3 series on September 5 in Worcester.

Peters, of no fixed abode but previously of Anglia Crescent, Kempsey, near Worcester, represented himself at the hearing, magistrates being informed of his alcohol issues.

Sentencing him Judith Hulland, chairman of the magistrates bench, told Peters they were revoking his current community order and giving him a new community order to last two years.

Peters was told he would need to complete a tagged alcohol monitoring requirement to last 90 days, a six-month alcohol treatment requirement, as well as complete 30 rehabilitation activity requirement days.

Peters was told to pay compensation of £250 to victim Chris Whelan - whose car Peters damaged - and pay costs of £135 and £114 victim surcharge

Magistrates agreed the total, £499, would be paid at a rate of £60 per month.

Peters still owes £130 to the courts from previous offending.

Magistrates tell Peters they want to help him and were 'not just being annoying'

Peters was told he would need to be at home over the next few nights for the alcohol bracelet device to be fitted.

Peters said: "I'm going away in November for my birthday", the court clerk explaining it would be fitted before then.

The chairman then said: "Can I point out if you are going away for your birthday - it is not going to be good if you were drunk within weeks of having it on.

"It will help you. We are not just being annoying."

Peters replied: "I need to get off the beer, I need to get off the alcohol. I'm only ever in court because of alcohol."

The chairman added: "If you breach any of this (community order) you will be back in court."

Peters said: "I know, I need to get away from this stupid place."

Peters has a number of previous convictions going back to 2007, including a sexual assault when he grabbed a female police officer's bottom in Worcester in 2010.

We reported on Peters in October last year when he appeared at the court for a string of offences including scratching a neighbour's car, goading a dangerously out-of-control dog to chase a cat and shouting and swearing as two little dogs cowered in their owner's arms.
