A KEY planning blueprint which will set out how thousands of homes will be built across the county in the next 20 years was published earlier this week - but what does it mean for where you live?

The reviewed South Worcestershire Development Plan (SWDP), which sets out how more than 11,000 new homes will be built by 2041, includes plans for a huge new 5,000-home town at Worcestershire Parkway station near Worcester and a massive new 2,000-home town at Throckmorton Airfield near Pershore, and an extra 1,000 new homes in Rushwick.

It has also been revealed that the two new towns would grow even bigger in the future with 8,000 more homes expected to be built after 2041 - including 5,000 more at Worcestershire Parkway.

Worcester

As well as the aforementioned new town at Worcestershire Parkway, hundreds of new homes are set to be built across the city by 2041.

This includes 495 homes in Diglis, 120 homes in Oak View Way off Bromyard Road and 39 homes at the Checketts Lane Industrial Estate off Droitwich Road.

A number of old plans included in the 2016 plan have been included in the new version including 16 homes off Brickfields Road, 40 homes next to the former gas holder site next to Ribble Close and 75 homes at the neighbouring Woodside Point warehouse in Williamson Road.

Up to 33 more homes could be built on the former Sansome Walk swimming pool site - which is currently being converted into flats - and 30 homes would be built next to the Masonic Hall in Rainbow Hill.

Plans also include 45 homes being built at Malvern Gate off Bromwich Road and 60 homes in Shrub Hill.
