A MAN who has so far been charged £760 from duplicated parking charges has been forced to cancel all of his cards just as he sets off on holiday.

Andy Gynn, a chef at the oil Basin pub, has cancelled all of his cards but is still being charged duplicate times for parking in city council car parks in Worcester.

He parks on either Newport Street or Copenhagen Street three times per week, but the hundreds of pounds of charges are far beyond the correct amount that he would pay for parking.

During his upcoming holiday to Greece, Mr Gynn will be reliant on his partner's money as he cannot access any of his since having cancelled his cards.

He said: "I'm really stressed.

"I don't want to be checking my bank every morning while I'm on holiday but it's been four days now that every morning I've seen money coming out for payments I haven't authorised.

"I have sort of resigned myself to the fact that there is absolutely nothing I can do until the council resolve this but when will that be?

"For it to still be happening is a joke - why haven't they put a block on everything?"

All of Mr Gynn's bank accounts are now in their overdrafts and he has cancelled all of his cards.

However, transactions are continuing to come out of his accounts.

He received a voicemail from Worcester City Council explaining it is aware of the situation and is sorry for the inconvenience.

It added that the provider would refund all of the duplicate transactions but they did not give Mr Gynn a date.

He added: "The fraud department with the bank said that it wasn't technically fraud which is crazy to me.

"This is creeping up to 200 transactions. It's insane.

"The council response is really poor.

"I hope that they compensate people.

"I have spent three days on the phone to the bank - it's not just the money that has been lost, it's people's time and inconvenience.

"The stress that this has caused me and my family is terrible.

"My heating and electricity bill has gone up £100 this month and I'm having to cope with that on top of all of this."

Mr Gynn feels it is unfair as an individual would be charged by the council if they were late to pay their council tax bill, while there appears to be no talk of compensation for those hit with these duplicate transactions.
