A THUG who drove at around 70mph in a 30mph zone before crashing into a car, injuring two, and running away from the scene will be sentenced next month.

Alan Cornes, who was jailed in 2015 for smashing his partner's head on the floor of a Worcester car park, has previously admitted failing to stop after a road accident and driving without due care and attention when he appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court.

Cornes was driving an Audi A5 on Temeside Way, Worcester, on a stretch which had a 30mph speed limit at the time.

Magistrates previously heard Cornes crashed into the back of a Nissan, despite the driver Adam Kilgallon flashing his break lights at Cornes.

One of those injured in the crash, Emily Price, suffered a broken nose and concussion.

Cornes ran from the scene, leaving no details with anyone.

The 44-year-old, of The Village, Powick, was originally told to return for his sentencing on Wednesday (October 5).

But the case was adjourned, being rescheduled until November 9.

We reported in 2015 Cornes was jailed for the attack on his girlfriend - when he left her unconscious, suffering a bleed of her brain.

The judge at the time said Cornes was dangerous enough to be given an extended licence period of three years, and ordered he serve at least two-thirds of a six-year term.
