The Worcester City branch of the Royal British Legion is celebrating 100 years - and they need your help to continue supporting veterans across the county.

Planning is now underway for this years's Poppy Appeal and organisers are keen to get people involved who could support the campaign.

The annual parade and service will be held on November 13 at Worcester Cathedral - while other parades will take place in different areas of the city such as St John’s.

"The Remembrance period is a really busy one for the legion and has already started behind the scenes," said Paul Harding, branch committee member.

"You may have seen the 2022 advert on TV and if you know a 'Poppy Appeal Organiser', they are busy filling boxes with poppies, putting together pin badges and wrist bands and starting to order wreaths for the war memorials.

Mr Harding continued: "In common with many other charities, Covid had a massive impact on its members and its ability to raise money to help others.

"The Royal British Legion relies heavily on volunteers and Worcester City branch needs your help.

"If you can help deliver poppies to schools and businesses by car, stand in a supermarket for a few hours or maybe collect on Worcester High Street, we would like you to get in touch."

The Worcestershire Poppy Appeal launch will take place on Saturday October 29 at the Guildhall in Worcester.

You do not have to be a member of the Royal British Legion or be from a military background to get involved.

"Let's celebrate 100 years of service and raise money for such an important cause," Mr Harding added.
