A multi-talented local Worcester school student has been selected for an upcoming England rugby training camp.

RGS' Loïc Keasey has been selected for the England Under 18 Rugby Development Squad for their training camp at Bishop Abbey National Institute in Marlow.

His call-up builds on playing for England over the summer as part of the Under 18 Rugby squad which played in South Africa.

Keasey scored two tries on debut playing against the Under 18 Springboks.

Following the news, he commented, "This is a very proud moment for me and my family and I am incredibly grateful to the coaches at RGS Worcester for helping and supporting my sports development since the age of eleven."

Now in his final year at RGS, Keasey has been heavily involved in sport from a young age, receiving expert guidance from Worcester Warriors and the Athlete Development Programme at RGS Worcester.

In addition to being an excellent rugby player, Keasey is a keen Judo enthusiast.

He has competed at a high level and is now one win away from securing his black belt and feels his success and commitment to rugby have benefited from Judo, enabling him to intertwine both interests to become a significantly more tactically aware rugby player.

RGS Worcester Headmaster, Mr John Pitt said: "We were delighted to see Loïc achieve his England call-up last summer and this further selection for the Under 18 England Development squad is no surprise given his ability and work ethic. He demonstrates all that pupils at RGS can achieve in sport with excellent coaching and a dedicated approach."

Keasey will lead his school in the annual Modus Cup against King’s School at Sixways Stadium.

The match is now scheduled for Monday November 7 and Keasey is already counting down the days: "I am delighted we are able to play and can't wait to experience the electric atmosphere of Sixways."
